CUC members argue about main issues
The talks within the first sitting, during the last 13 months, of the Joint Control Commission (CUC) have been rather difficult, parts involved in the conflict showing once again that they have different positions in certain principle matters, Ion Leahu, CUC member on behalf of Chisinau announced about this.
According to Leahu, at the meeting on May 25, only 2 issues were discussed – the report of military commandment was heard and held talks on organizing an activity mechanism for military observers.
The second issue led to prolonged contradictory discussions, CUC member noted. The Transnistrian part and the representatives of Russian Federation insisted on keeping the existent situation. In Chisinau’s opinion, this mechanism does not allow monitoring and objectively mirroring the situation. The Russian and Transnistrian parts made certain small steps to get along, but discussion on this topic is to be continued at the next meeting.
Next CUC sitting is planned for June 1, to be held in Tighina.
