Crowded public places in Chisinau to be inspected following Bucharest tragedy

The cafes, nightclubs, shopping centers and other crowded places in the municipality of Chisinau will be inspected by representatives of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service. A decision to this effect was taken by the local authorities following the fire that devastated a nightclub in Bucharest, killing 30 and injuring another 137, IPN reports.

In the November 2 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca asked inspecting the wiring, heating systems and emergency exits and proposed staging simulations of such situations so as to prepare the population and avoid panic.

Deputy head of the Chisinau Emergencies Division Liviu Merzancu said that such inspections are carried out annually and when emergencies occur. When the inspections are over, the results and the identified irregularities will be made public.
