Crisis cell: Power demand is covered and emergency contracts will not be necessary

The power demand on the right bank of the Nistru is fully covered. The Government's crisis cell said that it is not necessary to use emergency power supply contracts. Energocom, together with the transmission system operators of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, Transelectrica and Moldelectrica, identified solutions to fully cover the deficit of 484 MWh estimated for today, January 14, IPN reports.

"It is essential to rationally use electricity during peak hours - 07:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 06:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., and to postpone the use of power to off-peak hours," reads a press release.

On Monday, January 13, the power demand on the right bank of the Nistru River will be fully met based on commercial contracts, without the use of emergency contracts. The details about the energy sources used are as follows:

According to the crisis cell, consumption on Monday was about 20% higher than on Sunday. The peak was recorded between 05:00 p.m. and 08:00 p.m., with a maximum consumption of 948 MW.

In the Transnistrian region, the power supply has been interrupted daily for five hours since January 10. The power supply is also temporarily turned off in the villages of Copanca, Corjova and Varnița, the Government providing support to the affected residents.

Over 80% of the electricity for the left bank is produced by MGRES/ Kuchurgan Power Plant. The Dubasari hydropower plant produces 12.43%, and 0.42% of the available electricity volume comes from the technological flow.
