Criminal case started over Galati shooting incident
Moldovan prosecutors opened a legal case over the shooting incident on the Moldovan-Romanian border, namely on causing of serious bodily injuries to a person, Info-Prim Neo reports.
First Deputy Prosecutor General Andrei Pintea told a news conference on Friday that an investigation was started to examine the case, not to say who is to blame.
On January 15, a Moldovan citizen was wounded on the Moldovan-Romanian border following an attempt to smuggle contraband cigarettes and altercations with the Romanian border authorities. The young man is now in the hospital. Doctors say his state is serious, but stable.
Under Article 151 of the Penal Code of Moldova, the causing of injuries is punished with five to ten years in jail.
