COVID-19 deaths at 116 in Moldova

The death toll from COVID-19 rose to 116. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection reported five new deaths in the morning of April 30, IPN reports.

The five persons were aged between 63 and 72 and were from the municipalities of Chisinau and Bălţi and also from the districts of Făleşti and Cantemir. All the infected patients suffered also from other diseases.

The number of infections with the novel coronavirus in Moldova totaled 3,771 by Wednesday evening. Of these, 431 cases were recorded in the Transnistrian region.

As many as 237 patients are in a serious state and 24 of these were put on a ventilator. Another 566 patients are in a medium grave state, while the rest are in satisfactory condition. Among those hospitalized are 72 infected children. One of them is in a serious state.

The authorities reported 960 cases of infection among healthcare workers. Among these are 236 doctors, 344 nurses, 58 doctor’s assistants, a paramedic, 15 pharmacists and 306 ancillary workers.

A number of 1,182 persons infected with COVID-19 recovered.
