COVID-19 claims two more lives in Moldova

The COVID-19 disease caused two more deaths in Moldova, taking the death toll to 14.  These are a man aged 41 and a 71-year-old woman who suffered also from other diseases, IPN reports.

After the April 5 meeting of the National Focal Point, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu said the man was admitted in a serious state to the Emergency Medicine Institute on March 30. He was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia. The man also suffered from diabetes mellitus, hypertension and a kidney disease.

The woman aged 71 was from Fălești. She was hospitalized on March 28. She suffered from cardiopathy and her state of health worsened on April 2. She had high fever and pneumonia. It was later determined that the woman contacted with her daughter-in-law who returned from Italy. The cardiologist who treated the woman was also admitted to a specialized medical institution intended for patients with COVID-19.

Viorica Dumbrăveanu also said that 80 persons infected with the novel coronavirus are now in a serious state. Of these, nine were put on a ventilator.

As many as 752 persons in Moldova have been diagnosed with COVID-19 so far. Of the 14 deaths associated with the novel coronavirus, three were reported on the left side of the Nistru. The youngest infected patient is a woman aged 27 from the Transnistrian region. Two doctors are among those who died.
