The novel coronavirus claimed one more life among physicians. This is urologist Corneliu Rotaru, 46, who tested positive for COVID-19. The doctor was admitted to the Emergency Medicine Institute on May 12, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, Corneliu Rotaru had worked for 19 years at the Emergency Medicine Institute. This is the 16th death from COVID-19 among doctors so far.

The death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 328. A number of 306 patients are in a serious state and 27 of them were put on a ventilator.

Moldova by now has got 9,247 confirmed infections with COVID-19. Of those who contracted the virus 1,734 are healthcare workers. As many as 1,039 infections were recorded in the Transnistrian region.
