A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion that they blackmailed a woman for not publishing intimidate photos of her. According to the police, the man got acquainted with the victim through social networking sites and, gaining her confidence, asked her to send intimidate photos of her to him, IPN reports.

The General Police Inspectorate said the suspect started to blackmail the woman with her photos and asked for €5,500 and US$ 1,000 for not publishing them.

The suspects were arrested in Cahul town after the woman passed on a tranche of the asked amount under the control of the police. The money was found on the suspects.

The blackmailers aged 35 and 37, who are both from Vulcănești town, were arrested for 72 hours. They face at most 13 years behind bars.

A similar case happened ten days ago. A 43-year-old man from Ialoveni was arrested after a German woman aged 38 complained she was blackmailed by the man with whom she got acquainted through social networking sites. The man asked for €600 for not publishing her intimate photos.
