Corman urges politicians to leave party interests aside until election campaign

“There is better cooperation inside the government coalition and in Parliament now, but the politicians should leave the party interests aside, until the next election campaign, and focus on the common interest,” Speaker Igor Corman said in a program on Radio Moldova on July 18. According to him, the legislature managed to adopt a series of pro-European laws, but the people should contribute to their implementation, IPN reports.

According to there Head of Parliament, the cooperation between the MPs will enable them to speak about definite accomplishments in the election campaign. The formulation and adoption of the statement on the situation in the Transnistrian region was a good example of cooperation that involved the Communist lawmakers.

Igor Corman also said that before the formation of the new parliamentary majority, there was one opposition, but now there is a right-wing opposition and a left-wing one. This is a consequence of the political crisis experienced by Moldova. The Speaker called on the right-wing opposition to more actively take part in the debates on pro-European bills and to avoid the populist debates. As to the left-wing opposition, Igor Corman believes that it pursues only one goal – to cause early elections.

In another development, the Head of Parliament said that besides adopting pro-European laws, steps should be taken at internal level. As many investments and projects as possible are needed so as to prevent the people from going aboard.

Igor Corman also said that paving the way for European integration does not mean abandoning the relations with Russia and closing the eastern borders. Moldova can have good relations both with Russia and the EU. Everything depends on the intelligence of the Moldovan authorities.
