The Republic of Moldova and Romania will extend the relations of cooperation in the tourism sector by creating favorable conditions for attracting investments to the sector. The Cabinet of Moldova on June 29 approved a draft decision to sign an agreement in the tourism sector with the Government of Romania, IPN reports.
Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Kiril Gaburici said the agreement expresses the wish of both of the sides to exchange good practices in the areas of tourist infrastructure and professional training of the personnel from the tourism industries of the two countries. Tourism is a key factor for the socioeconomic progress of Moldova. The country has a rich potential to develop a viable tourism sector that would generate revenues, employment possibilities and other benefits.
“In 2016, the Republic of Moldova was visited by about 30,000 Romanian citizens, while in 2017 by almost 36,000. This is an increase of 6,000 persons or about 20%. We see the Romanian tourists’ increased interest in visiting our country,” stated Kiril Gaburici.
The Republic of Moldova signed cooperation agreements in tourism with over 20 states.
