Contingent of Moldovan servicemen to take part in EUFOR ALTHEA

Twenty Moldovan servicemen will participate in the European Union’s operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina – EUFOR ALTHEA. The Cabinet approved a draft decision regarding the ensuring of organizational measures and necessary conditions for the mission, IPN reports.

Moldova’s contingent will take part in EUFOR ALTHEA as part of the contingent of the Romanian military forces and will carry out peace support and patrol missions in the area of operations.

The mission will start on October 1, 2024 and will last 12 months. Logistical support will be provided by the Romanian contingent.

The European Union’s EUFOR ALTHEA in Bosnia and Herzegovina was established in 2004 and has the task of maintaining a safe and stable environment. It fully cooperates with the country’s armed forces and civilian authorities. Currently, 22 countries are involved in EUFOR ALTHEA.
