The mayoralty of Chisinau municipality plans to open on Thursday, July 13, consulting desks. Their aim is that all citizens having questions to the local public administration to find answers at responsible persons from these desks, this way being excluded the contact of citizen with the civil servants. The interim mayor Vasile Ursu stated that the decision to install such desks was taken as result of the corruption charges brought to the local public administration by the Government, as well as by the population, through multiple complaints. Ursu didn’t deny the existence of corruption, especially, in three municipal sectors: Architecture and Urbanism Department, the Financial Department and the Urban Regime Control. Ursu failed to name at least one corruption case, invoking the lack of penal proceedings, but he highlighted that “corruption does exist, as long as people talk about it”. He showed his confidence that the system of „unique desks” will work and lead further to reducing the number of complaints on population’s behalf. The mayoralty will open 5 desks. At the Monday worrking meeting, on July 10, Ursu required the responsible persons from the mayoralty to examine the possibility for these desks to work in two shifts, until 18.00-19.00, including on Saturdays, in order to facilitate population’s access to specialists’ consultations. Near the desks there will be mayoralty’s archive, in order to facilitate issuance of necessary acts in due time.
