Parliament gave a final reading to the bill that abolishes the fees related to the provision of consular services. Also, the fees for issuing the passport of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova, for offering consular services related to citizenship, for registering civil status documents, for filling out notarial documents and for providing other consular services were halved, IPN reports.
The consular fees for preparing the set of documents needed for obtaining the passport of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova for persons younger than 18 were eliminated.
As a result, the consular fees paid by Moldovan citizen for a service were reduced by 60%.
So far, when applying for a service through consular offices, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova paid a total cost consisting of a number of components, such as the tax levied by the Public Services Agency, the consular free and the related costs. If the citizens asked also to have the documents delivered through courier services, the cost of delivery was also added.
