The Constitutional Court today rejected a motion by the Communist-Socialist group to suspend a set of amendments adopted on July 25 to the Law on the Administration and Denationalization of Public Property.

Submitted by MPs Vlad Batrîncea, Petru Burduja and Grigore Novac, the motion asked the Court to urgently suspend the amendments due to an “imminent harm” that could be caused to the public interest should the government decide to rent out commercial spaces at the state-run Chisinau Airport.

“Analyzing prima facie the motion for suspension, the Chair of the Court observes that the petitioners did not present any argument related to the Constitution with reference to the risks of harm to any of the areas laid out in Article 251(2)(1) of the Law on the Constitutional Court and Article 71 (2)(1) of the Code of Constitutional Jurisdiction. Therefore, there is no sufficient ground to order a suspension of the contested provisions”, the ruling states.

The decision is irreversible and may not be appealed.
