The Constitutional Court has confirmed the results of the October 20 national constitutional referendum, IPN reports.
CC president Domnica Manole said that 3,020,814 electors were included in the voter rolls for the plebiscite, of which 2,711,615 were on the basic electoral lists and 309,199 – on the supplementary lists. 1,532,264 voters (50.72%) received ballots, i.e. more than a third of the electors on the voter rolls.
To the question put up at the referendum: "Are you for amending the Constitution so as to enshrine the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union in it?", followed by the text of the law on the amendment of the Constitution, out of the total number of votes, 749,719 were for the "Yes" option, and 739,155 – for the "No" option.
Thus, the draft law to amend the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, regarding the conduct of the national constitutional referendum, was adopted by the referendum of October 20, 2024, Domnica Manole said.
The Constitution will be republished in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Moldova. The Court's judgment is final and cannot be appealed. Judges Sergiu Țurcan and Vladimir Țurcan expressed separate opinions.
The CEC’s request was examined against the background of a protest mounted by the Party of Communists, which invoked irregularities and even the falsification of the plebiscite results.
