Confederation of Trade Unions presented in Geneva proofs on union rights’ violation in Moldova
The Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova (CSRM) presented proofs about the violation of union rights in Moldova in front of the Committee on Freedom of Association of the International Labor Organization (ILO).
The president of CSRM, Petru Chiriac, who participated within a Moldovan delegation at the works of the International Labor Conference held in Geneva, declared for Info-Prim Neo that the proofs were accepted by the leadership of the committee, which included the issue about the violation of union rights in Moldova into the agenda of the November meeting. The officials from ILO will examine the proofs and the way of solving the problems formulated by CSRM until November.
Chiriac mentioned that within ILO annual report presented at the Conference, no reference about Moldova was made, the main reason, according to him being the fact that “none complained against Moldova at ILO till present”. At the same time, he says that the government always criticizes the Confederation because it “jeopardizes the image of the country, speaking openly about the existent problems”.
Previously, Chiriac declared publicly about the intimidations and pressures made by the state authorities upon union members to change their membership for another union organization’s – “Solidaritatea”. The union leader declared that CSRM will continue to ask for the protection of its interests until the moment the problems will be solved. According to Petru Chiriac, “this kind of actions can not be tolerated, if we call ourselves civilized persons, law-based state and intend to join EU”.
