Communists say Alliance could face Egypt-like protests

The Communist Party will denounce a situation of endless postponement of the presidential vote by the ruling Alliance for European Integration as usurpation of power. Communist MPs Artur Resetnikov and Sergei Sirbu told a press conference that the enduring political crisis could have very serious consequences and could result in protests similar to those in Egypt. Sergei Sirbu said that people could take to the streets to protest as their patience was running out. He didn't rule out that it could be Communist supporters who would stage protests, but specified that such rallies would be peaceful and would meet all legal requirements. The Communist Party insists that the election of the country's president should take place in April the latest. At the end of last week the Communist faction in Parliament tabled a legislative proposal which says that the head of state must be elected within two months from the first session of the legislature. Artur Resetnikov and Sergei Sirbu said the bill was submitted for consideration to the relevant parliamentary commissions.
