An MP elected on the Communist Party's ticket has announced today she is not going to be part of the Communist group, preferring an unaffiliated status instead, IPN reports.
Irina Vlah explained she expected that the November 30 election would bring parties into government that would “put an end to chaos and corruption” in the country and “govern in the interest of the country”. However, the Communist Party's plans for a broader coalition with the pro-European parties meant for Vlah a “betrayal of the people's vote”. She accused those parties of being corrupt and acting in narrow party interests.
Following the November 30 election, the Communists got 21 seats in the 101-seat Parliament. Irina Vlah was 8th on the party's list of MPs.
