Communist MPs to quiz Revenco over Volkov allegations
The Communist parliamentary group has summoned Border Police head Roman Revenco to appear before Parliament next Thursday and offer explanations about the recent allegations made against him, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Last week, Vladimir Volkov, the subcontractor of the Swedish company Ericsson AB in Moldova, claimed that Revenco had requested a kickback from a project implemented by the company on the Moldovan border and funded with EU money. Earlier this week Volkov was arrested and the NGO Moldova Mea claimed that it was in retaliation for the disclosure. Further, Moldova Mea speculated that Volkov could be killed while in custody to cover up the case.
The European Union offered Moldova 10.2 million euros under a project aiming to secure its borders. The tender winner Ericsson subcontracted the work to a Romanian company which subsequently hired Volkov's firm to perform the job.
