The enlarged Common Visa Application Center, hosted by the Hungarian Embassy in Chisinau, has been inaugurated on Tuesday, September 16, at a ceremony attended by Moldovan and Hungarian officials. The Center was enlarged to meet the increasing demand for visas, Info-Prim Neo reports. The remodeling works lasted for three months, during which the Center followed a special working schedule. After renovation, visa seekers will be serviced by as many as five desks. The staff was also enlarged. Moldovan Speaker Marian Lupu declared at the ceremony: “We are absolutely satisfied with how the Center is working and with the quality of the provided services”. He revealed that in the course of 2008 and 2009 the list of countries offering visas through the Center would be supplemented. “It is praiseworthy how the EU member countries partnered up to make this Center run properly. It is also applaudable that this Center opened in Moldova, a country where European integration is a major aspiration”, said Hungarian Speaker Katalin Szili. Inaugurated in April 2007, the Common Visa Application Center has been issuing visas for eight European countries: Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Slovenia, Sweden, Hungary and Iceland. Since opening, the Center has issued nearly 10,000 visas, 6,000 of which this year.
