The legislative body extended the mandate of the commission of inquiry into the situation on the currency and financial market of Moldova by 15 days. The commission’s head Marcel Raducan said more time is needed for examining all the relevant materials. Commenting on this decision, Socialist MP Igor Dodon said the commission pretends to be examining the situation and intends to delay the presentation of its report in Parliament, IPN reports.
Igor Dodon stated that the National Bank of Moldova hasn’t yet presented the requested information and money continues to be stolen from Banca de Economii. The Socialists who form part of this commission will produce an alternative report to present the real situation.
The head of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Vlad Filat accused Igor Dodon of telling lies and warned him that he will answer before the people for this.
The commission of inquiry was set up to establish the situation on the currency market, especially after it was rumored that 21 billion lei was stolen from Banca de Economii. This money was allegedly converted into foreign currency and transferred abroad and this led to the depreciation of the leu.
