Commercial banks credited the population and economic entities by 1.72 billion lei in November
The commercial banks in Moldova gave out, in November 2006, credits totaling 1.72 billion lei, an increase of 114 million lei compared to the previous month. This increase was sustained by credits in lei, which registered an important increase.
As such, the volume of credits in MDL given out constituted 1.11 billion lei, a 150.7 million lei increase compared to the previous month.
The share of credits given out to legal persons in the total volume of credits given out in the national currency constituted 77.5%. In the structure based on settling days, the credits given out to legal entities with a term of more than 12 months maintained their maximum share – 59% of the total, increasing by 8.8 percentage points. These are followed by credits given out for terms between 6 and 12 months – 21.5% of the total.
In November, the average interest rate for credits given out in the national currency decreased by 0.34 percentage points, down to 18.34%, mainly because of the decrease by 1.41 percentage points in the average rate for credits given out to natural persons, down to 19%.
With regards to credits given out in foreign currencies, data for November show a volume of 614.4 million lei, a 37 million lei decrease compared to October.
The vast majority of credits were given out to legal entities – 608.9 million lei, or the equivalent of 46.1 million USD, a level inferior to that of October by 2.6 million USD. In their structure, credits with a term of more than 12 months maintained their leading role – 53%, a 5.6 percentage points decrease compared to the previous month, and were given out with a mean interest rate of 11.07%.
The average interest price for credits in foreign currencies given out to legal entities constituted 11.19% in November 2006.
