On the day of the Moldovan leu, marked on November 29, the National Bank of Moldova issued seven commemorative and jubilee coins as a means of payment and for numismatic purposes.
Four coins, with a nominal value of 50 lei, are made of silver and are part of the "Personalities" series. These are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Glebus Sainciuc - a Bessarabian plastic artist and portraitist; 85 years since the birth of Serghei Lunchevici - violinist, conductor, composer and film actor; 80 years since the birth of Gheorghe Vrabie - plastic artist and author of the Moldovan leu design; 85 years since the birth of Mihai Volontir - people's artist, actor at the “Vasile Alecsandri” National Theater in Bălți.
The following two silver coins, with a nominal value of 50 lei, complete the "Famous Women" series and are dedicated to the 100th anniversaries of the birth of Zenaida Pally - international acclaimed Romanian mezzo-soprano and of the birth of Domnica Darienco - actress at the Dramatic Theater "A. S. Pușkin", currently the National Theater "Mihai Eminescu".
The string of new coins introduced into circulation ends with the series of coins "Other", which includes the commemorative coin dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova, with the nominal value of 100 lei.
300 copies of each exemplary were minted.
