The National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) concluded 430 contracts for each type of medical assistance that is to be provided in 2024 with healthcare and pharmaceutical service providers. Based on these contracts, CNAM allocated about 14 billion lei to both public and private healthcare providers, which are to offer assistance to medically insured persons, IPN reports.

CNAM director general Ion Dodon told a press conference that the institution he heads has already transferred about 900 million lei to providers with whom they concluded contracts, which is an 80% advance for January for medical services that are to be provided. At the same time, the full amount for services will be offered to medical institutions with which CNAM concluded a contract in the course of the year, depending on the volume of medical services provided and reported to CNAM.

All the concluded contracts can be viewed on CNAM’s website under the heading “healthcare providers”.

Also, 1.08 billion lei was allocated for compensated medicines and medical devices, by 50 million lei more than last year.

According to the CNAM director, the money was granted taking into account criteria related to equitable access to medical services, the necessity of medical services for insured persons, the quality and efficiency of forms of diagnosis and treatment, medical equipment owned and others.

Ion Dodon urged the people to insure themselves as the period for paying mandatory health insurance premiums in a fixed amount has already started. He added that all the services covered by the Common Mandatory Health Insurance Program are fully paid by CNAM. There are no partially paid services and, respectively, the insured person does not have to pay for medical services under any circumstances. He recommended that if the insured persons are asked to pay for certain medical services, they should consult a CNAM representative, call the green line 0800 99999 or call the CNAM representative at the local level.
