The project of the public transport of Chisinau development strategy will be examined by the specialized commissions of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC). The document was submitted to several municipal councilors at an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday, May 31. The projects includes such measures as improving the public transport management, recommendations on the elaboration of the transport tariffs’ calculation and regulation methodology, of the social protection policy and of a more efficient model of raising the taxes in the public transport. The action plan of the strategy includes turning to good account about 3.4 billion lei until 2010, for the development of the roadways networks and of the transport structures, including construction objectives (viaducts, bridges, highways), and also constructing trolleybus lines. The projects of the public transport development Strategy was elaborated by the “Business Consulting Institute” (BCI) and the Technical University of Moldova with the support of OSI/LGI Budapest. Without a public transport development strategy, CMC refused to examine the issue of increasing the tariffs in the public transport for passengers. At the begging of this week, the General Department of Public Transport and Ways of Communication of CMC solicited once more the increase of the tariffs in the passenger’s urban transport, justifying that the inflow of passengers diminishes in summer and along with it, diminishes the budget of the municipal transport enterprises.
