The faction of the Democrat Party in the Chisinau Municipal Council claims the lack of dialogue between the representatives of the non-communist political parties in CMC and expresses its worry that the new administration of the municipality was not yet created and there are no talks on this issue. Vladimir Filat, member of PD faction told a news conference on Wednesday, July 4 that as a result of the discussions, he decided not to exchange his seat in Parliament for councillorship. He says that he thought very seriously to stay in the Council, as the leader of PD faction and maybe chairman of the Council, but this fact should have happened following talks which did not take place and might not take place in the near future. Also, the cited source said that the Mayor General can efficiently administrate the City only with the real and conscious support of the municipal councillors. It is clear that a coalition of at least 26 councillors is necessary in this respect. Thus, the one who should have started the negotiations is Dorin Chirtoaca. Alexandru Tanase, Leader of PD faction in CMC expressed his deep concern about the fact the new administration of the municipality was note yet created. It is a concerning situation, including because the present administration has to solve the “heritage” of the former administration – debts over MDL 300 mln. It is necessary to create an anti-crisis committee to respond correctly and properly to this situation, Tanase said. According to him, the political forces in the CMC which have a higher number of votes should display intelligence and ability, to acknowledge the situation and to organise a meeting, in order to solve the issue of the deputy-mayors, district mayors, and to organise a contest for several offices included in the personnel chart of the City Hall, so that the City has a viable administration as soon as possible. So far, there were created 6 factions in the CMC. The largest – that of the communists – including 16 persons said it would move to total opposition. The next largest faction is that of the Liberal Party (the Mayor being its member) – 11 members, “Moldova Noastra” Alliance – 7, PD and the social democrat faction – 5 members each and the faction of People’s Christian Democrat Party – 4 councillors. A week ago, Leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said that the non-communist parties have discussed the creation of an alliance in the CMC. Ghimpu said he had a phone conversation with the president of AMN, Serafim Urecheanu, the leader of Democrat Party, Dumitru Diacov, the leader of People’s Christian Democrat Party, Iurie Rosca. According to the cited source, the discussions will continue and the parties hope they will reach a compromise so as to confirm the status of opposition of the communists.
