The concept to modernize the Central Market of Chisinau was approved by the votes of 43 councilors on August 11. The market will be modernized during at most two years. At the first stage, there will be carried out engineering works to build toilet facilities and constructed a medical unit, IPN reports.

The works will later cover the fruit, vegetables, handicrafts, wholesale and greens sectors. Parking places will be built for visitors near trading places on the streets Tighina and Armenească.

The tender contest to organize designing works that will last for two months is the last stage. The first stage of the modernization works will start in autumn.

The designing costs will be covered with municipal funds, with loans and by the contribution of business entities operating at the market.
