Civil society organizations and local authorities can benefit from grants within “Non-State Actors and Local Authorities in Development” program
The European Union Delegation to Moldova has launched the "Non-state actors – In-country interventions" call for proposals within the thematic program “Non-State Actors and Local Authorities in Development”
The thematic program “Non-State Actors and Local Authorities in Development” is an “actor-oriented” program aimed at strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations and local authorities as a pre-condition for a more equitable, open and democratic society through support to their own initiatives, it is said in a press release from the EU Delegation, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
The specific objectives and priorities of the call for proposals are to support the following actions: strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations in Moldova, with a view to facilitating their participation in defining sustainable development strategies and in implementing actions aiming at poverty reduction, and democratic participation, in particular through promotion of citizens' participation in the democratic electoral process; engagement of local civil society actors in electoral reforms; development of professional domestic election monitoring; education and mobilization of voters to participate in the parliamentary elections 2010 and local elections 2011, etc.
The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is €400,000. Any grant awarded under this program must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts: minimum amount: €50.000 and maximum amount: € 150.000. Deadline for receipt of applications is 03 November 2010
The program “Non-State Actors and Local Authorities in Development”, introduced in 2007, aims to reduce poverty in the context of sustainable development, including the pursuit of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and other internationally agreed targets.
