Civic group suggests fielding Constantin Oboroc for President

Representatives of a civic group propose that a nonparty member who would represent the right and the center should be proposed for the office of President. They consider former MP and ex-deputy prime minister Constantin Oboroc is the most suitable candidate. The civic group calls on Constantin Oboroc to put himself forward and to file the necessary documents to the Central Election Commission.

In a news conference at IPN, Filip Eftode, of the civic group, said the presidential institution is now a real catastrophe for the Republic of Moldova. “It seems that the presidential institution turned into a factory of trolls, of lies about the language, alphabet and the independence of the Republic of Moldova. During 30 years, the so-called parties of the left have confused us with their screwy ideas about language and problems,” noted Filip Eftode.

According to him, it is not known how the state will overcome the experienced social and economic crisis. The current presidential administration prevented the country from having relations with the neighboring states, while the President knows only one road, to Moscow. It happens because the country was managed by profiteers only. Those who took part in national liberation movements were marginalized. Constantin Oboroc is one of them. He was the one who in August 1991 had the courage to declare that the Republic of Moldova would become independent at the meeting of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union. He knows what a presidential institution means. He also served as an adviser to Moldova’s first President.

Civic group member Dina Diaconu said the group appeared due to a hearty young man who now lives in Paris, but who last December founded the group “Constantin Oboroc – Our President”. She knows well Constantin Oboroc and his skills. “We decided to insist and ask Constantin Oboroc to come and file an application for running for President. He is a good manager, has political experience and finds ways out of any situation. He is a patriot,” stated Dina Diaconu.

Singer Tudor Ungureanu noted that the current period is a very difficult one and a decision as to the followed direction should be taken. “It’s painful to see what’s happening on the right. We are the same, but struggle between us. These small parties of the right that clash between them seem to have united and formed a party of the unionist forces, but we will see what happens in autumn,” he stated, adding it’s time for union and for fielding a suitable candidate, like Constantin Oboroc.

Cristina Gîrbu, a young woman who said that she knows Constantin Oboroc from what her father told her, noted she considers he is a distinguished personality who can represent the country. Despite the pandemic and other problems, this year is crucial because it offers the possibility of making changes at home. “I think everyone saw how badly the crisis was managed in our country and how the political class neglects the people, the social situation and entrepreneurs’ businesses. That’s why I think it’s time to choose a dignified and responsible person who would represent the country at the highest level. I think Mister Constantin Oboroc is an honorable person and he knows better that anyone else the situation in the Republic of Moldova, since the declaring of its independence,” stated Cristina Gîrbu.
