Citizens can report vote buying cases through alegeri.md

The citizens who witness cases of vote buying for the snap parliamentary elections of July 11 or other electoral violations can leave a report on alegeri.md, Elena Prohnitski, program manager at the Association for Participatory Democracy (ADEP), announced today in a news conference at IPN.

Those who witness electoral fraud on the election day and ahead of elections are urged to collect evidence, such as pictures, audio/video recordings, notes, documents, statements of other witnesses, to fill out the form on alegeri.md, in the division “Signal Violation” (on right side of the website), and to send it.

The information will reach the
Association for Participatory Democracy that will complete the report and will remit it to the responsible bodies, indicating in the copy the email address of the report author. ADEPT is not empowered to solve the reported problems. It only offers consultative assistance to voters. The anonymous reports or those submitted without indicating the postal or email address of the report author are not examined, said Elena Prohnitski.

She also said that the public authority is obliged to accept and to immediately register the report received through email and to communicate the registration number of the report also by email within two days. The electoral authorities are obliged to examine the report and to provide a response within three days of the receipt, but not later than the election day.

ADEPT executive director Igor Boțan said the last polls show the number of citizens who haven’t yet decided which party to vote decreased by 7%. Currently, 23% of the citizens eligible to vote are undecided. On alegeri.md, the citizens will find comprehensive information about the candidates for MP, including about the defections of candidates from one party to another.
