“The works of the summit of the CIS heads of governments have been a success. The adopted decisions are fateful for the entire Community,” chairman of the Executive Council and the executive secretary of the CIS Sergei Lebedev has stated in the end of the reunion, Info-Prim Neo reports. The decisions are to be enforced by the Executive Council jointly with Moldova which takes over the presidency of the CIS structures starting January 1, 2009. Lebedev is confident the year 2009 will be a success both both the CIS countries' cooperation and for Moldova's development. Moldova's prime-minister Zinaida Greceanai has stated “the reunion offered the attendees the opportunity of an open dialogue both bilaterally and at the Community level.” Sergei Sidorsky, the Belarusian premier, now holding the rotating CIS presidency, has specified the heads of governments have discussed 34 issues. “The development in the coming years constituted the core of the discussions. We have determined the perspectives of our cooperation in economy, transport, agriculture, migration policies, culture, information and defense. Although not on the agenda, we have also discussed the world financial crisis,” Sidorsky said.
