Christians go to church after holy water

The Orthodox Christina who follow the old calendar on January 18 celebrate the Eve of the Feast of Epiphany. The Divine Liturgy was held in churches and the water was then blessed. Parishioners also went to the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” in central Chisinau to take holy water that is considered to be curative, IPN reports.

Maria Ceban drinks holy water before eating in order to be healthy. She also splashes the house with holy water. “Holy water and basil is used at all the events we hold as this is useful,” stated the woman.

Nicolae Bunescu made a habit of splashing holy water all over the house every start of the week. “I came to take holy water for the family and for what we have near the house. The water is also for our health and good luck,” he said.

Tatiana Rusu goes to church to take holy water on the Eve of Epiphany each year. “This water helps in everything. Every morning, I drink a little of holy water and feel that the evil we accumulate throughout the day is destroyed,” noted the woman.

After the Liturgy, His Holiness Vladimir, Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and All Moldova, said the water on the Eve of Epiphany is blessed to eradicate passions, to clean houses and for other purposes. Those who drink holy water taste what holiness, welfare, cleanness and blessing are like.

The Feast of Epiphany is celebrated on January 19. On this day, the Christians also go to church to take holy water.
