Christian-Democrats curious who's behind PRO TV Chisinau, while AMN – who's behind EuTV and Antena C
The Christian-Democratic MPs (PPCD) wonder who's behind PRO TV Chisinau. MP Stefan Secareanu criticized the station on Thursday and asked the police to probe who are the station's owners dictating its editorial policy. Yet Moldova Noastra MP , Gheorghe Susarenco has asked to be informed who's behind EuTV and Antena C, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Stefan Secareanu has stated PRO TV is a station “specialized in attacking, undermining, discrediting and making guilty the institutions of the state of law, in gratuitous slandering and labeling, and in purposely causing artificial states of instability and panic in society.” “All those seem to be part of the multiple scenarios of undermining Moldova, plotted by foes from abroad,” Secareanu said.
“Taking into account that the biggest stake in the joint company Media Pro SRL, the founder of the station PRO TV, belongs to an off-shore firm from Cyprus, this company having only foreign capital, we have the right to know who is hiding behind this occult commercial structure,” the PPCD deputy said. “The unaware consumer of such a media product may believe that PRO TV Chisinau would belong to the coquette ladies appearing on the screen every evening and bombarding society with terrifying news, often biased,” he argued.
Secareanu is also curious how correctly PRO TV Chisinau pays its taxes, including the ones from advertising, which is the nature of the station and of its masters from abroad with some politicians and how PRO TV's work observes the Broadcasting Code.
At the same session, unaffiliated MP Vladimir Braga, the president of the Moldovan Greens, has asked the Broadcasting Coordinating Council to consider ProTV's broadcast “In profunzime”, aired live on October 20. According to Braga, the broadcast “for over an hour, processed the public opinion what Moldovan parties to vote for in the 2009 elections.” Taking into account that the Parliament did not announce the start of the race, the deputy has asked the BCC to consider whether the station breeched the electoral legislation.
Yet, the Moldova Noastra parliamentarian, Gheorghe Susarenco, has asked to be informed who's behind EuTV and Antena C radio station and if those pay their taxes conscientiously.
PRO TV's administration has told Info-Prim Neo they will issue a statement on this subject.
