Chisinau’s Patron Saint Day without extensive festivities

The Patron Saint Day of Chisinau that is observed on October 14 this year will be celebrated without large-scale festivities. The municipality decided to cancel them as the number of cases of COVID-19 goes up and the capital city is under red alert, IPN reports.

In the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services, mayor general Ion Ceban said that a service will be held at the Metropolitan Cathedral to observe the Protection of the Mother of God. There will be staged an event that will involve people of culture and the anthem of Chisinau will be officially transmitted to the municipality by Master Eugen Doga.

Another event will be devoted to people who daily make effort to ensure a cleaner and nicer capital city. These are the employees of the Green Areas Association, the Public Amenities Division, the Urban Bus Company, the Chisinau Electric Transport Company and other services.

On the occasion of the feast day, the employees of the local public administration will receive by an additional salary.

A number of performances for children will be held on October 13-14. On Chisinau’s Patron Saint Day, entrance to the Zoological Garden and the Park “Dendrariu” will be free of charge.

Ion Ceban said that this year, owing to the pandemic, delegations of foreign partners haven’t been invited to the events. Even so, fellows from over the Prut and from other countries announced that they will come to Chisinau.
