Chisinau’s comment on event expected to take place on February 28 in Tiraspol

The seventh congress of so-called deputies of all levels is set to take place in Tiraspol next week. The local press reported that the political, social and economic situation in the region will be discussed there. The Bureau for Reintegration Policies said there are no reasons for the situation in the region to deteriorate, IPN reports.

The event will be attended by representatives of the so-called Supreme Soviet, of city and village councils. The meeting was convened in connection with concerns about “the pressure exerted by the Republic of Moldova, which violates the rights of Transnistrians”.

“Regarding the public reports about the event planned to take place in Tiraspol on February 28, we specify that the Bureau for Reintegration Policies is closely monitoring the situation in the Transnistrian region, being in permanent contact with the OSCE Mission and other international partners,” reads a press release issued by the Bureau.

The institution noted that according to its information, there are no reasons for the situation in the region to deteriorate. “We are convinced that Tiraspol is aware of the consequences it assumes in case of unconsidered steps,” it is said in the press release.
