Chisinau Veterinary Service drafted a new regulation on keeping animals and birds
Chisinau State Veterinary Sanitary Service (SSVSMC) required to municipal council to approve the new regulation on keeping productive animals and birds on municipality territory.
SSVSMC head, Radu Mudreac, said that the regulation stipulates sacrificing all birds and animals only in the presence of veterinary doctor, who will authorise meat consumption, only of healthy animals and birds. In the same tine, persons selling or purchasing animals or birds will be obliged to inform the veterinary doctor within 48 hours about made transaction and to register them at the mayoralty. The regulation stipulates as well how has to be arranged the room where the animals and birds will be kept. Thus, it is foreseen that specialised farms of birds and animals to be placed not closer than 150 meters from the house, and separate rooms of keeping birds – at least 50 meters. It will not be allowed animals’ walking in public parks or their feeding on the roads.
Asked if these measures are connected with increasing number of deaths among animals and birds, Mudreac denied this thing and mentioned only that this regulation would only a measure for preventing human illness. He mentioned that the prophylaxis program a diseases to animals is implemented to maximum, animals and birds being vaccinated against specific diseases in time.
In the same time he mentioned that it is implemented the prophylaxis program against bird flu, there are organised seminars in all mayoralties of municipality, where the inhabitants are familiarised with bird flu preventing measures. The main message is to limit domestic birds’ access outside specialised rooms, in order to prevent their contact with the wild ones.
The regulation on keeping productive animals and birds on the territory of municipality Chisinau was approved on Tuesday, 28 March, by the commission for education, social protection and health protection. The document shall be transmitted for approval to Chisinau Municipal Council.
