Chisinau Trolleybus Company's accounts frozen
The Chisinau Court of Appeals ordered sequestrating the accounts of the Chisinau Trolleybus Company over historical debts of 15 million lei. “This is an alleged debt that hasn't been proven,” the head of the Legal Division Diana Gurschi said at the April 6 meeting of the Chisinau City Hall officials.
Companies registered abroad informed the court that they are entitled to this sum under a concession contract signed with “Electroplus” company, which, for its part, inherited this right from “Moldtranselectra”. The latter was a state-run company that was liquidated, while the debts to it were frozen, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Diana Gurschi said the Court of Appeals' decision to freeze the accounts was appealed at the Supreme Court of Justice, but the challenge was rejected. She also said that a similar case was tried in Kiev in 2008, but the Chisinau Trolleybus Company's debt was not proven.
The company's director Gheorghe Morgoci considers that the Court of Appeal's decision is illegal as the mentioned firms provided no service to the company. He said the sequestration of the accounts can have serious consequences on the company as they will be unable to pay salaries and the electric power consumption. Morgoci said he will convoke the staff for a general assembly on April 7 and asked the City Hall to help solve the problem.
The company's monthly turnover is 18.5 million lei. A large part of this sum is used to pay salaries and the power consumption. Presently, the company has a historical debt of 12 million lei, besides the 15 million lei claimed in court.
