Chisinau trolleybus company reports losses of 1 million lei as a result of protests

The Chisinau Electric Transport Company sustained losses following the modification of a number of trolleybus routes in connection with the protests mounted in the capital city during the last few years, the company’s director Gheorghe Morgoci said in the January 25 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, IPN reports.

Gheorghe Morgoci noted that the protests generated losses of about 20% of the incomes. Thus, this January the company’s revenues are by 1 million lei lower than last January. Owing to the decline in revenues, the salaries to employees and other payments will be overdue.

The most recent large-scale protest was mounted in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau on January 24. Afterward, the protesters marched along Stefan cel Mare Blvd and Calea Iesilor St and went to Balcani St, where they blocked traffic. As a result, a number of trolleybuses were diverted to adjoining streets.
