During November 3-5, Chisinau will host the General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), which will be chaired over by Moldovan Speaker Marian Lupu, current PABSEC President, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Plenary Session will discuss “The process of globalization and the issue of preservation of national identity in the BSEC countries” as the main topic of the General Debate. Other topics on the agenda are economic issues, trade, technology and environmental concerns in BSEC, political aspects of strengthening economic ties, influence of globalization on social policies, etc. At the end of the Chisinau Session the PABSEC rotating Presidency will be taken over for the next six months by the Parliament of Romania. The next General Assembly is to be held in Bucharest on 9-11 June 2009. PABSEC includes parliamentary representatives from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, the Russian Federation, Turkey and Ukraine and has existed in the current setting since 1997. The PABSEC General Assembly convenes twice a year in ordinary plenary session (spring and autumn sessions).
