Chisinau to explain benefits of free trade agreement to Transnistrian businessmen

The EU welcomes the proposal of Chisinau to create councils that would help the businessmen from the left bank of the Nistru River to better understand how to benefit from the Free Trade Area. The message was transmitted to the Head of the Unit for Eastern Partnership of the European External Action Service Dirk Schuebel, after the 14th meeting of the Moldova – European Union Cooperation Committee, IPN reports.

Dirk Schuebel said that the meeting was a fruitful one. “The European Commission established that Moldova fulfilled all its commitments and will propose abolishing the visas for the Moldovan citizens. Today we discussed the most important coordination areas – justice, the fight against corruption, the business environment and the reforms that were implemented. We discussed the Association Agreement and said that it is important for the Transnistrian region, which is a part of Moldova’s economy,” stated the official.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iulian Groza said the meeting centered on the latest developments in the political and sector dialogue between Moldova and the EU. “It is a favorable event before the Eastern Partnership Summit. It was a good occasion for taking stock of the past events. We are ready for initialing the Association Agreement. The sector cooperation also develops. Besides the agreements and assistance offered by the EU, we also have interconnection projects with the EU in the energy sector,” he said.

The 14th meeting of the Moldova – European Union Cooperation Committee took place in Chisinau on November 20.
