The students of education institutions of Chisinau resume lessons in classrooms as from February 7. The decision was taken in a joint meeting of the municipal Extraordinary Public Health Commission and the Commission for Exceptional Situations. The members of the commissions voted unanimously, IPN reports.
“Specialists reported a decrease in the daily number of cases of COVID, including in children. The situation has stabilized and we do not have severe and extremely severe cases in the municipal medical institutions. According to statistics, we have a lower incidence rate than in other countries,” mayor Ion Ceban posted on Facebook.
The additional sum that the municipality has to pay from the local budget for covering the higher prices of gas, gasoline, diesel fuel and some of the services was another subject discussed by the commissions. “About 300 million lei is needed for the purpose, but this money wasn’t earmarked in the municipal budget for this year. We will ask the Government to cover these costs. Such a decision was supported by the commission members,” said Ion Ceban.
The mayor called on the members of the Congress of Local Authorities of the Republic of Moldova (CALM) to do the same in the name of all the mayor’s offices and to ask for subsidies from the Government.
