Chisinau asked to eliminate the abusive tariffs imposed by Tiraspol on the movement of goods, for transport units with a total weight of over 18 tonnes. The request was made at the meeting of working groups for the development of road transport and infrastructure, which involved experts from Chisinau and Tiraspol. Instead, it was proposed to examine the possibility of repairing damaged roads in order to improve the regional road infrastructure, IPN reports, with reference to a press release issued by the Bureau for Reintegration Policies.

Experts of the Public Services Agency suggested synchronizing the working hours at the transport registration units in Tiraspol and Rybnitsa according to a single "Monday-Friday" schedule, because only these two local subdivisions operate on a daily basis, "Tuesday-Saturday".

The experts also stressed the need of diversifying the scheduling channels for registration services.

As regards the registration of imported vehicles with neutral-design license plates, Chisinau explained the legislative differences on the means of transport introduced into the Transnistrian region since April 24, 2018, noting that a bill is being drafted to clearly regulate these aspects.

Tiraspol returned to the proposal to examine the possibility of registering ambulances of the Transnistrian region with neutral-design license plates, with Chisinau reiterating the legal conditions and international standards that must be observed for their registration in the Republic of Moldova, as they have special series and carry out strictly regulated activities.

As for national model driving licenses, it was specified that obtaining them takes place at an active pace. About 50% of drivers in the Transnistrian region currently hold such licenses. Regarding Tiraspol's idea of agreeing to neutral-design license plates, it was stressed that this is incompatible with the requirements of international conventions and the national normative framework.
