Chisinau mayoralty and UNDP organize international auction for selecting designer company for City Planning
Chisinau mayoralty and UNDP organize an auction for selecting the designer company for drafting City Planning and Chisinau’s General Urban Plan (PUG), according to a press release of the mayoralty of Chisinau municipality.
According to it, Chisinau Municipality Territory City Planning and drafting PUG’s second phase were the main topics of the discussions between the interim mayor Vasile Ursu and Ignacio Artara, UNDP permanent representative to Moldova, Aliona Nicolita, UNDP – Moldova program coordinator and Ghenadie Ivascenco, executive manager of Habitat-Moldova Center, on Thursday, 8 June.
Mr. Ursu thanked UNDP representatives for their participation at designing PUG, underscoring that for Chisinau, as for the other city-capitals of the ex-socialist area, drafting a General Urban Plan under the new socio-economic conditions is a quite difficult and expensive project. It was decided that the next week Chisinau mayoralty and UNDP–Moldova will conclude a new cooperation agreement on PUG designing, and then announcing the auction.
UNDP contributed with 70,000 dollars and other 1,5 million lei were allocated from the municipal budget for drafting the first phase of the General Urban Plan.
The first Cooperation Agreement between UNDP – Moldova and the mayoralty of Chisinau was concluded in September 2004, within the Project „ Amazing Moldova”, through which UNDP-Moldova engaged to provide assistance to municipal authorities in drafting Chisinau Development Project.
