The mayor of the municipality of Chisinau Ion Ceban has launched the National Alternative Movement. He made the announcement in a news conference in which he criticized the government. The mayor said in such circumstances, he cannot remain indifferent and decided to come with an alternative for the citizens, founding the National Alternative Movement. But he didn’t give details about this, IPN reports.
“Today we see that there is no other force that can protect the interests of all the citizens from the anarchism of those who claim to be doing good things. I repeat that I talked to tens of mayors, a lot of business entities and many people. I said that I will tell you about any decision taken by me and about my future plans. I know that everyone is waiting for an alternative that would unite everyone, would build a future and would take care primarily of the people and their interests,” stated the mayor.
Ion Ceban noted the idea of creating the Movement belongs to him, while the team has been near him in time. He will speak about the subsequent steps later.
According to Ion Ceban, during two years Chisinau has changed and reached a new development level, while citizens’ expectations are being met by the hundreds of implemented and ongoing projects. The city will continue to develop despite the obstacles placed by the central power.
“A disaster is now witnessed at the central level – a complete lack of vision, lack of programs and projects. They do not have training and a professional approach and do not have competent people. What do we have instead? We have propagated lies, hidden public information, lack of respect to the media, cheap shows every day. These things make Moldova take steps backward. The messages about democracy, the fight against corruption are just a screen for the illegalities committed by gaining control over all the state institutions and by harassing the people at the workplace,” stated the mayor.
According to him, the people want an alternative and he is ready to offer it by the National Alternative Movement.
Ion Ceban stopped to be a member of the Party of Socialists in November 2019, after he was elected mayor of the municipality of Chisinau.
