Though earlier Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said he was categorically against mounting the Easter fair in central Chisinau, today the press service of the Chisinau City Hall informed that the fair will take place. It will be staged, as usual, in the Park of the Metropolitan Cathedral on A. Pushkin St, on April 9-11, IPN reports.

The communique says the Easter fair in central Chisinau will involve only patisserie producers operating in the municipality of Chisinau. Easter fairs will also be staged in the districts of Chisinau, where there will be sold food and nonfood products related to Easter.

Dorin Chirtoaca said earlier that by organizing Easter fairs in the center of Chisinau, they create the illusion that the goods sold there are different or cheaper. But this is not so as the prices there are the same as in shops. Therefore, no such events will be held downtown anymore and the district fairs could also not be staged in the future.
