Chisinau hosts Romanian Literature Days

The eighth edition of the Romanian Literature Days has started in Chisinau. For five days, readers will meet important writers from Moldova and Romania. The event is hosted by Cartier Publishing House and the National Museum of Romanian Literature, IPN reports.

A meeting with Oleg Serebrian is the first event in the program. It will be organized at “Iulia Hasdeu” High School in the capital city, starting at 12 noon. At 2 p.m., the National Museum of Romanian Literature situated at 79 Alexei Mateevici St will host a practical workshop for teachers with Maria Shlyakhtitski. At 4 p.m., the Museum will also host a debate on what current students like to read, which will bring together teachers and students from primary, secondary and high school classes. The evening will culminate with another debate with the participation of Vitalie Ciobanu, Gheorghe Erizanu, Alina Radu, Oleg Serebrian, Arthur Suciu. The event will take place at ArtCor, 137 31 August St starting at 7 p.m.

On the second day, May 15, a number of events will be staged in high schools in the country and will involve personalities, such as Vasile Romanciuc, Arthur Suciu, Vitalie Ciobanu, Gheorghe Erizanu. The Academy of Music, Theatre and Film will host an event with writers and editors in a dialogue: Bogdan Alexandru Stanescu, Emilian Galaicu-Paun. At 5:15 p.m., a prose evening will start at Centru Bookstore. At 7 p.m., the National Museum of Romanian Literature will host a debate on recent literature history, which will involve Bogdan Alexandru-Stanescu, Emilian Galaicu-Paun, Tatiana Niculescu, Dumitra Râșnoveanu, Valentina Șcerbani.

On Thursday, the School of Journalism, MediaCor, will host a workshop with Tatiana Niculescu starting at 10 a.m. The Moldova State University will host a debate featuring Carmen Muşat starting at 11 a.m. A practical workshop for teachers will also be organized with Carmen Musat. The event will take place at the National Museum of Romanian Literature starting at 2:30 p.m. In the evening, at Europa Cafe situated on Alexei Shchusev St, an exhibition of young documentary photography entitled RAW Moldova will be mounted

On Friday, the meetings with writers at high schools will continue. At 3 p.m., ArtCor will host a debate involving Mihnea Bâlici (Scena9, Vatra, Echinox), Vitalie Ciobanu (Free Europe), Iulian Ciocan, Victoria Coroban (Free Europe), Dumitru Crudu (Timpul), Peter Demeny (MATCA), Paula Erizanu, Emilian Galaicu-Paun (Free Europe), Mihai Iovănel (Scena9), Igor Kornilov (locals.md), Ana Mărgineanu (diez), Patricia Mihailă (moldova.org), Carmen Muşat (Observator Cultural),  Stella Popa, Ema Stere (Radio Romania Cultural), Dumitra Râșnoveanu, Alisa Tanas (Radio Moldova), Natalia Zaharescu (Ziarul de Gardă). Also, a Poetry and Music Marathon will be held there starting at 7 p.m.

On the last day, May 18, at 1 p.m., a meeting with writer Daniela Raţiu will take place at the Diez Book Club-Cartier Bookstores at Centru Bookstore. Starting at 6 p.m., “Luceafărul Theatre” will present the Play 1946, based on Larisa Turea’s “Book of Famine”. At 8 p.m., a debate will be held with the participation of Igor Cașu, Dumitru Crudu, Maria Anton, Daniela Raţiu, and Pavel Păduraru.
