The Martial Arts European Championships under the patronage of the Federation “Voievod” was held in Chisinau for the sixth time. The competition, hosted by the State University of Physical Education and Sport, involved over 400 athletes from eight European and Asian countries.
Moldova topped the medals rankings, being followed by Romania and Armenia. Gold medals were won by Nicolae Deleu, Eugen Chernopolc, Aureliu Stetsenko, Lucia Miriutsa and Lina Ceban.
The Romanian delegation was the second largest after the Moldovan one. “We have even athletes aged four. We came this year to Chisinau with 16 athletes. It is a pleasure for us to take part in this competition” said the coach of the Romanian team Iulian Strugariu.
“For us, it was an important stage in the preparations for the World Championships of Italy. We will take part in the World Championships for the fourth time. Last year we won two silvers and a gold medal through Nicolae Deleu,” president of the National Fighting Federation “Voievod” Nicolae Pascaru has told IPN.
