Banning Moldovan wines by authorities of Moscow is the result of political misunderstandings, the Communist deputy, Vladimir Turcan, noted on 14 April during a press conference in Moscow. Turcan, said that Moldovan part did not get any proofs that Moldovan wines are not qualitative and endangers the health of consumers of Russia. According to him, Russian importers tested many samples of Moldovan wines in Russian laboratories and it was proved that wines correspond to standards. „That is why we conclude that banning selling wines was thoughtless,” he mentioned. Molovan delegation expressed hope that state power of Russian Federation would include in settling down wine crisis so that the issue would be transferred from political level to that of the experts. “Wine crisis is not only a strike for businessmen of Moldova, but as well for the reliability of the Russian market”, Turcan underlined. Eugenia Ostapciuc, the head of parliamentary delegation, referred to bilateral relations between Russian Federation and Moldova. According to her, the trade between both states amounted to over 620 million dollars in 2005. Russia is the main foreign economic partner of Moldova, being on the first place in exports and on the second place imports, Ostapciuc specified.
