The Chisinau Electric Transport Company sustains losses owing to the modification of many of the trolleybus routes in connection with repair works performed on streets in the capital city, the company’s head Gheorghe Morgoci announced in the December 7 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, IPN reports.

Gheorghe Morgoci gave the example of the building site existing on Negruzzi Blvd, towards Gagarin St. As that portion was closed, the routes No. 17 and 20 were modified and, as a result, the company sustained losses. About 2.8 million lei was collected in the first week of last December. This year the collections are by 120,000 lei or 5% lower.

According to the company’s director, at least one lane for trolleybuses should be reopened in that area so that the diverted trolleybuses could travel on the old route. Trolleybus route No. 1 could be suspended in the near future, following the extension of route No. 28, from Durlesti up to Sarmizegetusa St, so as to avoid overlapping.
