The meeting to constitute the new Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) will take place on July 15, president of the Central Election Commission Iurie Ciocan has announced, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The seats of municipal councilor were validated by the Centru district court on July 11. The votes cast for the CMC on June 5 were recounted on June 30 at the Liberal Party’s request. The recount was halted and resumed for several times following applications filed by the PCRM, which opposed the recount. The results of the recount did not change the configuration of forces in the CMC. The Communist Party has 26 seats of councilor, the Liberal Party - 17, the Liberal Democratic Party – 7, while the Democratic Party – one seat. Recently, the lawmakers adopted amendments to the legislation, whereby the post of permanent chairman of the Chisinau Councils was removed. The Council will be chaired by members in rotation. The chairperson will be helped by a secretary.
